At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

Wellbeing programs and initiatives

Connected Kids

Our Learning Support Team plays a key role in ensuring that the specific wellbeing needs of our students are met. Parents/Carers can refer their child to the Learning Support Team following consultation with the class teacher or executive staff. Under the guidance of our Learning Support Team, we have the following wellbeing programs and initiatives.

Brave Program
The Brave Program is a program to assist in the prevention and treatment of childhood and adolescent anxiety. It provides a way for young people to better cope with their worries by teaching them the skills they need to reduce their anxiety and to cope with stressful situation.
Seasons for Growth
Seasons for Growth is based on the belief that change, loss and grief are a normal and valuable part of life. The program provides opportunities for each participant to integrate the appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes to cope with change, loss and grief. Parents and teachers are given the opportunity to nominate students for the program each term.
Shine
A 10 week program for students to to understand themselves better, develop deeper friendships and develop self-confidence and self-awareness.
Boys Shed
A small group opportunity to connect Stage 2 and Stage 3 students with a male teacher as a role model. Students complete hands on wood-work based projects, encouraging a sense of belonging, connection, and opportunities to promote mental wellness.
Rock and Water
The Rock and Water program is an experience that provides Stage 3 students a pathway to self-awareness, and increased self-confidence and social functioning. Through movement and discussions, students explore problem solving strategies and develop greater levels of self awareness. The program leads from simple self -defence, boundary and communication exercises to a strong notion of self-confidence.
Social Skills
Targeted small group intervention with teacher or Assistant Principal Wellbeing. Using strategies from stage based PDHPE units on resilience, students are supporting in developing their social skills and conflict resolution strategies through role play, discussion and real life scenarios.
ADF Equip
Transition support program run through our Defence School Mentor to support Defence families who are posting out in Term 4 each year.
